Bottle Rocket

{4.5/5} “One morning, over at Elizabeth’s beach house, she asked me if I’d rather go water skiing or lay out. And I realized that not only did I not want to answer that question, but I never wanted to answer another water-sports question, or see any of these people again for the rest of my life. ”

After Anthony leaves the hospital he entered for “exhaustion” he teams up with his friends Bob and Dignan in a robbery. Dignan has a 75-year plan which has something to do with getting together with his old landscaping boss Mr. Henry. But Mr. Henry fired Dignan so this might be a flaw in the plan. They go on the run and stay in a hotel. Dignan thinks they should change their appearance, but Anthony has something more important to do — he wants to get to know Inez, the housekeeper.

Bottle Rocket was released in 1996.

It’s filled with low-key humour.

I liked it a lot — it’s not quite as brilliant as some of Wes Anderson’s other movies but it’s worth watching.

The fun music is by Mark Mothersbaugh (The Lego Movie).

Luke Wilson (Idiocracy) plays Anthony and Owen Wilson (Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian) plays Dignan. They have each been in several Wes Anderson movies, and both of them were inĀ The Royal Tenenbaums.

The movie was directed by Wes Anderson (Moonrise Kingdom). It was his first movie. I’ve seen all of his movies except his latest, and they’re all fantastic.
