Paper Man

{4.5/5} “Does this couch make me look fat?”

Richard is a writer — he’s temporarily moved out of the city in order to have a change of scenery for writing his next book. His wife Claire is a doctor, and she comes out on the weekends. Richard has made friends with Abby, a teenager with troubles of her own. He also has an imaginary friend, Captain Excellent. Richard is feeling a lot of pressure to write a great book and is having trouble getting started.

Paper Man was released in 2009.

It’s serious at times and funny at times.

Having someone nice to talk to, regardless of how old they are, can help you sort out your problems.

I liked this movie a lot.

Jeff Daniels (Looper) plays Richard and Emma Stone (Easy A) plays Abby. Lisa Kudrow (Easy A) plays Claire and Ryan Reynolds (The Croods) plays Captain Excellent. Kieran Culkin (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) plays Abby’s friend Christopher.

The movie was directed by Kieran and Michele Mulroney (writers on Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, this is their first as directors).
