The Prestige

{4.5/5} “The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you’re looking for the secret… but you won’t find it, because of course you’re not really looking. You don’t really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn’t clap yet. Because making something disappear isn’t enough; you have to bring it back. That’s why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call ‘the prestige.'”

The Prestige, released in 2006

Angier and Borden are magicians in the late 19th century. Angier blames Borden for his wife’s death. Borden blames Angier for shooting him in the hand. Both of them will do whatever it takes to amaze their audience — including using a machine built by the scientist and wizard known as Tesla. It’s about magic, secrets, and revenge. I wish I could see it again for the first time — the surprise is awesome. Stars Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. Directed by Christopher Nolan.

This is the second time I’ve seen it.

I previously reviewed Nolan’s movie Interstellar.
