The Cat Returns

{4/5} “Always believe in yourself.”

The Cat Returns, released in 2002

Haru saves a cat from being run over. It turns out that cat is a prince. In return for saving him the king wants to shower her with gifts — but they aren’t gifts that she really wants. Then the king decides that Haru would make the perfect wife for his son — and if she goes to the kingdom of the cats she’ll turn into a cat herself.

If you liked My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service, you’ll like this movie from Studio Ghibli.

Kids will like it, but it’s amusing so adults will like it too.

The English dubbed version stars the voices of Rene Auberjonois and Peter Boyle. Directed by Hiroyuki Morita (animator on Kiki’s Delivery Service). The gentle music is by Yuji Nomi.
