Silver Linings Playbook
{4.5/5} “‘You have poor social skills. You have a problem.’ ‘I have a problem? You say more inappropriate things than appropriate things.'”
Pat has been in a mental health institution for 8 months because he beat up the guy who was sleeping with his wife. Pat is still having issues but his mom decides it’s time for him to come home. He meets Tiffany, a woman who speaks her mind and whose husband has died. Although Tiffany is interesting, Pat still wants to get back together with his wife — which will be tough while she has a restraining order against him.
Silver Linings Playbook was released in 2012.
I started watching The Secret World of Arrietty but I found it kind of boring (although it might be OK for kids) so I watched this one instead.
The characters are different than the usual movie characters. It might be tough living with mental health issues — but you can still find silver linings.
Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper as the main characters make you want to find out what happens with these two — I liked it a lot.
There’s some music by Danny Elfman (Frankenweenie) but it’s much less spooky than his usual movie music.
Bradley Cooper (Limitless) plays Pat and Jennifer Lawrence (X-Men: First Class) plays Tiffany. Robert De Niro (Everybody’s Fine) plays Pat’s dad and Jacki Weaver (Picnic at Hanging Rock) plays Pat’s mom. Chris Tucker (Rush Hour) and Julia Stiles (The Bourne Ultimatum) have smaller parts.
The movie was directed by David O. Russell (Three Kings).
