Your Sister’s Sister

{4.5/5} “I really think your face is going to annoy me right now.”

Jack’s brother has died and he’s having a tough time. His friend Iris invites him to stay at her family’s cottage for some alone time. When Jack arrives he’s surprised to find that Iris’s sister Hannah is there — she’s just broken up with her girlfriend. They haven’t met before but over a long night of drinking they get to know each other. The next day Iris shows up.

Your Sister’s Sister was released in 2011.

It’s a little movie about the relationships between three people, with some beautiful scenery.

People make big mistakes. If those people are important enough to you, you might decide to forgive them.

It’s tough to make a movie with a lot of dialogue and not much action — this is a great one. I found it more interesting than Before Sunrise.

The guitar-focused music is by Vinny Smith (Touchy Feely).

Emily Blunt (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen) plays Iris, Mark Duplass (Safety Not Guaranteed) plays Jack, and Rosemarie DeWitt (the TV show United States of Tara) plays Hannah.

The movie was directed by Lynn Shelton (Touchy Feely).
