Don Jon

{4.5/5} “Maybe it’s time to try something new.”

Don Jon works out, hangs out with his friends, keeps his house clean, has road rage, visits his family, and goes to church. He has had one night stands with lots of women but never a relationship. Then he meets Barbara. He can’t stop thinking about her, and he even decides to try something different — he takes her out for lunch. He finds that there are advantages and disadvantages to being in a relationship.

Don Jon was released earlier this year.

It’s about relationships and becoming a better person. It goes in an unexpected direction.

Julianne Moore, always worth watching, plays a surprising role.

There are some very funny parts.

The fun music is by Nathan Johnson (The Brothers Bloom).

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Looper) plays Don Jon and Scarlett Johansson (We Bought a Zoo) plays Barbara. Julianne Moore (A Single Man) plays a woman Jon meets in class. Tony Danza (Crash) plays Jon’s father, Glenne Headly (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) plays his mother, and Brie Larson (21 Jump Street) plays his sister.

The movie was directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt (his first as director).
