Family Weekend
{4.5/5} “When did everything… get so strange?”
Emily is participates in jump rope competitions, and she won the most recent regional competition at her school. But no one in her family was there to cheer her on, even though she left them all post-it notes as reminders. She believes that her parents have become not-so-good parents — so she drugs them, ties them up, and proceeds to try to save her family the only way she knows how.
Family Weekend was released in 2013.
This is a very funny movie — all of the actors brilliantly throw themselves into the unusual material.
It’s about trying to be the best family you can be — I liked it a lot.
The critics didn’t much care for it, but who are you going to believe — them or me?
Olesya Rulin (High School Musical) plays Emily.
Kristin Chenoweth (the TV show Pushing Daisies) plays mom and Matthew Modine (The Dark Knight Rises) plays dad. Joey King (Crazy, Stupid, Love.) plays sister Lucinda and Shirley Jones (the TV show The Partridge Family) plays grandma GG.
