The Martian

{5/5} “It has been seven days since I ran out of ketchup.”

The Martian, released in 2015

The Ares 3 mission on Mars is cut short due to a huge storm. One of the astronauts, Mark, is presumed dead when his signal is lost. But he’s really still alive — and must survive alone on Mars until a rescue mission can be launched. But he doesn’t have enough food or water to survive that long.

If Ridley Scott is directing a science fiction movie, you should really go see it on the big screen. I’m guessing this is the most realistic depiction of Mars in a movie.

It’s a cross between Apollo 13 and Cast Away. It’s exciting and funny.

There are no bad guys and they use science to solve the problem.

The Mars scenes were filmed in Jordan.

Stars Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain. Directed by Ridley Scott (Robin Hood). There is some majestic music by Harry Gregson-Williams.
