Zootopia
{4.5/5} “Life isn’t some cartoon musical where you sing a little song and all your insipid dreams magically come true. So let it go.”
Zootopia, released in 2016
Judy Hopps is a determined bunny — she’s the first bunny to graduate from the police academy. Assigned to parking in Zootopia, she inserts herself into a missing otter case. Her only lead is a fox who’s a swindler, Nick Wilde, but she’s confident in her abilities. Eventually they run into a mystery of animals going savage.
This is a clever and funny movie. All of the characters are animals, specifically mammals.
I love how all the workers at the DMV are sloths. The homage to The Godfather and the wolves that can’t help but howl were also pretty good.
Stars the voices of Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman. Directed by Byron Howard (Bolt), Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph), and Jared Bush (creative leadership on Big Hero 6). The playful music is by Michael Giacchino.
