Deadpool
{5/5} “That guy was already up there when I got here.”
Deadpool, released in 2016
Wade Wilson had found his true love Vanessa, but soon afterwards he was diagnosed with cancer. He calls a mysterious stranger who says he can heal him — which he does, but at a great cost. Wade has been turned into a mutant, and not a nice-looking one. Donning a full-body suit and calling himself Deadpool, he sets out for revenge.
This movie takes place in the X-Men universe. Two members of the X-Men appear — Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
You’ll get an idea of the satirical tone from the opening credits. It’s extremely funny. It’s also quite violent.
The general storyline won’t be surprising but it’s done in a brilliant way — Deadpool is a terrific character, and there are several other great characters too.
Stars Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin. Directed by Tim Miller (creative supervisor on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World).
Be sure to watch to the end of the credits.
