Split

{4.5/5} “An individual with multiple personalities can change their body chemistry with their thoughts.”

Split, released in 2016

Kevin has 23 different identities that each take over his body from time to time. He sees a psychologist, and has been able to hold down a job for 10 years. So he seems to be doing well. But he’s actually kidnapped 3 teenage girls and is scaring them by telling them that someone bad is coming.

It’s been a while since I was interested in watching an M. Night Shyamalan movie, but it seemed possible that he had redeemed himself with this one.

It’s a bit intense and disturbing — you’ll want to watch it with the lights on. But he did redeem himself — it’s a great movie.

James McAvoy, always tremendous, makes you believe in the different identities.

The last 30 seconds will blow you away if you haven’t heard the latest development.*

Stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Betty Buckley. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense). The eerie music is by West Dylan Thordson.

Spoiler alert

*This movie and Unbreakable take place in the same universe. There’s going to be one sequel to both of them.
