Looper

{5/5} “I don’t want to talk about time travel because if we start talking about it then we’re going to be here all day talking about it, making diagrams with straws.”

Looper, released in 2012

Joe is a looper. He works for the mob, killing people they send from the future at a specific time and place. He disposes of the body and gets paid. One day his future self appears and he fails to kill him. His future self, 30 years older, has plans that don’t exactly coincide with his own.

Even when you know approximately what’s going to happen, this movie keeps you on the edge of your seat.

It’s disturbing at times, but the story is gripping. It’s about doing whatever it takes to protect those you care about — whether that’s yourself or someone else.

It has a Blade Runner meets Twelve Monkeys vibe to it.

Stars Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Directed by Rian Johnson (The Brothers Bloom). The terrific music is by Nathan Johnson.

This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it. My previous review is here.
