Justice League
{4.5/5} “One misses the days when one’s biggest concerns were exploding, wind-up penguins.”
Justice League, released in 2017
Steppenwolf has returned after thousands of years to put the three Mother Boxes together and take over the world. Bruce Wayne puts together a team to confront him — he knows Diana Prince will be with him, but he’s not sure about the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. When Steppenwolf gets the Mother Boxes from the Amazons and Atlantis the team knows it doesn’t have much time.
The bad guy isn’t very interesting, but each of the heroes has their moments. It continues the trend from Wonder Woman of adding more humour to this universe — Barry Allen is particularly funny.
It’s better than Batman v Superman but not as good as Wonder Woman.
It’s an enjoyable movie with some scenes of over-the-top action.
Stars Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Jason Momoa. The music by Danny Elfman was overshadowed by other things going on but did amazingly include his original Batman theme from 1989.
The main director was Zack Snyder (Batman v Superman), but he had to leave the production before it was finished. Joss Whedon (writer on Alien: Resurrection) came in to finish the job — he’s credited as writer but not director.
The previous movie in the DC universe was Wonder Woman.
