Oblivion

{4.5/5} “Are you an effective team?”

Oblivion, released in 2013

In the war with the Scavengers, humans defeated them but bombed the Earth so much they have to leave. Jack is a drone maintenance tech who goes out every day to fix drones that have failed or been attacked by remaining Scavengers. In 2 weeks he and his partner, who works communication keeping an eye on him, will head up to the Tet — and then humanity will make the move to Titan. Meanwhile, Jack has dreams about a time before the war, a time he can’t remember.

This movie is very rewatchable, with its combination of arresting visuals and a delightful story.

Tom Cruise and the special effects make you believe you’re in the future.

Most of it is great, there’s a part near the end that’s slightly less than great, and the very end is brilliant.

Stars Andrea Riseborough and Olga Kurylenko. Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Only the Brave).

This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it. My previous review is here.
