TV shows I didn’t finish

These are all shows that I would have finished if they were great — I’m not including shows I had no intention of finishing.

Shows I watched a bunch of episodes of

I watched at least 1 season of these shows:

  • Arrested Development
    • I didn’t watch season 5, which wasn’t as funny.
  • Dragons
    • I watched 2 whole seasons before deciding it was mostly for kids.
  • Farscape
    • I didn’t watch all of season 2 — it’s good but I’m only interested in watching great shows.
  • Missions
    • I’m not planning on watching season 2, since season 1 didn’t present a coherent world.
  • Once Upon a Time
    • I didn’t watch season 7, when they retooled it.
  • Revolution
    • I didn’t watch season 2 — too much fighting and not enough interesting story.
  • Scrubs
    • I didn’t watch season 9, which is subtitled Med School. As it should be — this is really a different show. Some of the main characters from Scrubs show up some of the time. But there’s too much that doesn’t make sense, and it doesn’t have the same zip.
  • Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
    • I didn’t watch season 4, when it wasn’t as funny.

Shows I watched a few episodes of

I watched 1, 2, or 3 episodes of these shows:

  • The 10th Kingdom
    • It didn’t grab me.
  • Alex, Inc.
    • Moderately amusing.
  • The Beautiful Lie
    • Probably a good show, but just not for me.
  • Disenchantment
    • Parts are funny but the main character is thoroughly unlikeable.
  • The First
    • It seems like it should be up my alley but it didn’t grab me.
  • Heroes Reborn
    • They tried very hard to make this an exciting show, but it just didn’t grab me.
  • Odyssey 5
    • The first episode was terrific. I stopped watching when one character agreed to spy on his dad.
  • Powerless
    • Moderately amusing.
  • Return to the Planet of the Apes
    • Similar to Star Trek: The Animated Series, this is a bad animated show from the 1970s.
  • Sanctuary
    • It’s OK but didn’t grab me as much as it needed to.
  • A Series of Unfortunate Events
    • I realized that the movie isn’t bad and this show isn’t bad — the story is mainly for kids, though.
  • Stargate Origins
    • Unlike all other Stargate TV shows, this one just wasn’t good.
  • Star Trek: The Animated Series
    • People claim to like it, but it’s a bad show.
  • Tru Calling
    • The intriguing premise didn’t quite translate into a gripping show.

Extant — I watched a few episodes. It’s not a bad show, but I decided it wasn’t for me.

  2. Dave Switzer Says:

Sharp Objects — This miniseries is very well done but wasn’t for me. It’s too dark.

  3. Dave Switzer Says:

Shogun — It might be great but I’ve decided to stick with the book, which is brilliant. One difference is that in the book you get to see what all the characters are thinking.

  4. Dave Switzer Says:

Halt and Catch Fire — It’s somewhat interesting, but didn’t grab me as much as I wanted it to.

  5. Dave Switzer Says:

Willow — It has its moments but overall it’s pretty disappointing. It has some humour, but the story has too many things that don’t make sense.

  6. Dave Switzer Says:

Night Court and That 90s Show — Both of these are moderately amusing but not hilarious.

  7. Dave Switzer Says:

The Dead Zone — It’s a good show, but it didn’t grab me quite enough to continue watching.

  8. Dave Switzer Says:

Supergirl — I checked out in season 5 when the storyline didn’t seem as good.

  9. Dave Switzer Says:

Blue Bloods — I decided that given the way that police were behaving in various places, I didn’t want this show to bias me towards them.

New Girl — I watched 3 seasons, and then stopped when I found most of the characters to be tiresome.

Twin Peaks — I liked the strangeness of season 1 but I didn’t like the strangeness of season 2.

  12. Dave Switzer Says:

Manifest — I watched some of season 4 but it’s not as good as the other shows I’ve been watching. I like the characters, but I’m frustrated by the storyline. The characters make a lot of tenuous connections that turn out to be correct.

  13. Dave Switzer Says:

Frasier — The new show is a much different style of humour, more old fashioned and less sophisticated.
