How to Train Your Dragon 2

{5/5} “So, what should we name it? … Itchy Armpit it is.” — Hiccup with Toothless, naming a new island

How to Train Your Dragon 2, released in 2014

In Berk, everyone is excited about dragon racing, which Astrid and her friends are engaged in. Except for Hiccup, who’s off discovering new islands. He runs into vikings who are kidnapping dragons, which leads him to a very dangerous man named Drago Bludvist. He also runs into his mother, who he thought for the past 20 years was dead.

It’s funny, sad, and thrilling. The scenes with Hiccup and his mom, and with his mom and dad, are beautiful.

I love how dragon racing involves catching sheep. It will make you want to run out and ride a dragon.

It’s brilliant.

Stars the voices of Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, and Djimon Hounsou. Directed by Dean DeBlois (co-director of How To Train Your Dragon). John Powell doesn’t rest on his laurels from his earlier soundtrack but expands on it in an exciting way (my favourite track is “Dragon Racing”).

This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it. My earlier review is here.
