Ocean’s Twelve
{4.5/5} “It’s not in my nature to be mysterious, but I can’t talk about it and I can’t talk about why.”
Ocean’s Twelve, released in 2004
Terry Benedict, a dangerous man, has figured out who robbed his casinos and he wants his money back — in 2 weeks. In order to get it to him, Danny Ocean and his crew will have to do a new job because, of course, they’ve spent some of that money. They head to Amsterdam to rob a guy who stays in his house all the time — he has so much security the only way they can get in is to raise the house up off the ground. They make it in, but the Night Fox has been there before them. They find the Night Fox in Italy.
It’s a fun romp with friends. It’s not quite as iconic as the first one, and this time it didn’t seem quite as brilliant.
The way the Night Fox gets through the laser field is a bit much — everything else is believable.
Julia Roberts plays a woman who “looks like” Julia Roberts, which is fun. Bruce Willis and Robbie Coltrane have amusing cameos.
Stars Casey Affleck, Don Cheadle, Scott Caan, Eddie Jamison, and Shaobo Qin. Also stars Stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Vincent Cassel.
Directed by Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven). The glorious music is by David Holmes.
This is the 2nd or 3rd time I’ve seen it.
If you want to watch the great movies in the Ocean’s series, watch Eleven, Twelve, and Eight. If you want to watch a slightly-less-than-great movie, watch Thirteen.
