Star Trek: The Antares Maelstrom
{4.5/5} “Grandle jumped off the counter into the fracas, landing between two furious shoppers who were doing their best to batter each other senseless. She shoved them apart, trying to keep them at arm’s length from each other. Her fierce expression would have done an ancient Greek Fury proud. ‘Get a hold of yourselves! What do you think this is, the twentieth century?'”
Star Trek: The Antares Maelstrom by Greg Cox, published in 2019
When pergium is found on Baldur III there’s a rush of beings heading there in order to get rich mining it. Lieutenant Sulu is left in charge of a Starfleet contingent on overwhelmed Deep Space Station S-8. Meanwhile, Captain Kirk and the Enterprise continue on to the planet. Kirk goes around the Antares Maelstrom to get there — but others might be tempted to go through it, even though no ship has ever made it.
It’s about the best problem-solving team in the 23rd century.
Along with the regulars, Yeoman Martha Landon has a small but nice role.
I’ve read 13 books by Cox. I previously reviewed Star Trek TNG: The Q Continuum — Q-Strike.
