Star Trek: Voyager — Homecoming

{4.5/5} “Libby felt a rush of excited calm settle over her. This was what she was good at. She wasn’t trained as an expert to access computers, or dismantle weapons, or break codes. Her strength was in analyzing people and being so harmless in the process that they let their guard down.”

Star Trek: Voyager — Homecoming by Christie Golden, published in 2003

When Voyager returns home the celebrations are somewhat muted due to the recent end of the Dominion War. The Doctor becomes embroiled in a holographic revolution. Janeway becomes friends with her ex Mark and his wife. Seven is disdainful of her legions of fans. B’Elanna goes to Boreth to find her mother, who disappeared while on a Challenge of Spirit. Meanwhile, Harry’s ex Libby works for Starfleet Intelligence and is on the hunt for a mole who’s giving technology to the Orion Syndicate.

This is the 1st novel that takes place after the series finale. Golden had already written several novels featuring the Voyager crew at this point, so she was a great choice to continue their story.

In addition to the regulars Captain Picard, Admiral Paris, Reg Barclay, and Deanna Troi show up. Icheb also has a nice role.

For some characters it’s about picking up where you left off, and for others it’s about being unsure where you fit in.

It doesn’t conclude, but leads directly into the sequel.

This is the 2nd time I’ve read it.

I’ve read 10 books by Golden. I previously reviewed Star Trek: Voyager — Dark Matters: Shadow of Heaven.
