The Invention of Lying
{5/5} “So that’s it, it’s Coke. It’s very famous, everyone knows it. I’m Bob, I work for Coke, and I’m asking you to not stop buying Coke.”
The Invention of Lying, released in 2008
Mark realizes he can tell a lie, but no one else in the world can. When he tries to explain it to his friends, they don’t understand. He uses his power to get his job back and become more wealthy. But he’s not happy because the woman he loves, Anna, wants to marry a man who has better genetics.
I’m a big fan of movies with a unique premise — this is one.
It’s hilarious and thought provoking.
Stephanie March, John Hodgman, Jason Bateman, and Stephen Merchant have small parts.
Directed by Ricky Gervais (Special Correspondents) and Matthew Robinson (writer on Love and Monsters). The playful music is by Tim Atack.
This is the 2nd time I’ve seen it. My previous review is here.
