Bookshops & Bonedust

{4.5/5} “‘That instant when you know that someone sees the same thing you see.’ Viv was surprised when Maylee nodded, shifting to meet Fern’s gaze squarely. ‘When they see you. When you know that at least right then, you’re really not alone. Somebody else feels exactly what you do. Or you hope so, anyway.'”

Bookshops & Bonedust by Travis Baldree, published in 2023

On one of Viv’s first jobs with Rackham’s Ravens she rushes ahead of everyone else, and ends up with a serious leg injury. While everyone else continues the adventure, she’s recuperating in a tiny place called Murk, on the ocean. One of its only shops is a bookstore, so she visits it. The bookseller suggests an adventure novel that’s right up her alley.

This is the prequel to Legends & Lattes.

It’s about the joy of reading, helping people just because they’re nice, and figuring out a magical mystery.

It’s about meeting people who are going up a hill while you’re going down, proverbially speaking.

This is the 2nd book I’ve read by Baldree.
