Hence, we live in places like this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Miss Peregrine&#8217;s Home for Peculiar Children<\/strong>, released in 2016<\/p>\n<p>When Jake&#8217;s grandfather Abe dies he travels to the place where Abe stayed as a kid. He runs into the kids that lived with Abe at the time &#8212; but they&#8217;re still kids. They, and their headmistress Miss Peregrine, live in a time loop. Every day is September 3, 1943 &#8212; the day the Germans drop a bomb on their residence.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a delightful story, although a bit disturbing in parts. The tone reminds me of <strong>Big Fish<\/strong>, where things are just a bit peculiar.<\/p>\n<p>Eva Green is superb as Miss Peregrine &#8212; she&#8217;s quirky but devoted to her children.<\/p>\n<p>There was one plot point I was confused about. Other than that, I liked it a lot.<\/p>\n<p>Stars Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, and Samuel L. Jackson. Directed by Tim Burton (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2015\/08\/pee-wees-big-adventure\/\"><strong>Pee-wee&#8217;s Big Adventure<\/strong><\/a>).
