Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children<\/strong>, released in 2016<\/p>\n

When Jake’s grandfather Abe dies he travels to the place where Abe stayed as a kid. He runs into the kids that lived with Abe at the time — but they’re still kids. They, and their headmistress Miss Peregrine, live in a time loop. Every day is September 3, 1943 — the day the Germans drop a bomb on their residence.<\/p>\n

It’s a delightful story, although a bit disturbing in parts. The tone reminds me of Big Fish<\/strong>, where things are just a bit peculiar.<\/p>\n

Eva Green is superb as Miss Peregrine — she’s quirky but devoted to her children.<\/p>\n

There was one plot point I was confused about. Other than that, I liked it a lot.<\/p>\n

Stars Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, and Samuel L. Jackson. Directed by Tim Burton (Pee-wee’s Big Adventure<\/strong><\/a>). The mysterious music is by Michael Higham and Matthew Margeson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
