When an accident happens the crew is awakened to join their synthetic, Walter. Soon they pick up a startling transmission, seemingly human in origin. They have no choice but to investigate &#8212; they find the remains of the Prometheus expedition, and much more.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the sequel to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/prometheus\/\"><strong>Prometheus<\/strong><\/a> (which I&#8217;m assuming will be renamed <strong>Alien: Prometheus<\/strong> when the big box set comes out).<\/p>\n<p>The first 5 <strong>Alien<\/strong> movies all had something very different about them, while this one feels a bit like a mishmash of what&#8217;s come before. It certainly has its moments, but I didn&#8217;t really want to get my hopes up that any particularly crewmember would survive.<\/p>\n<p>The movie is beautifully shot, when it&#8217;s not being gruesome.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s terrifying, but the story could have been more interesting.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Fassbender is terrific as synthetics Walter and David.<\/p>\n<p>Stars Katherine Waterston and Billy Crudup. Directed by Ridley Scott (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2015\/11\/the-martian\/\"><strong>The Martian<\/strong><\/a>).
