Dick&#8217;s Electric Dreams<\/strong> season 1, aired in 2017-18<\/p>\n<p>In &#8220;The Hood Maker&#8221; telepaths can read anyone &#8212; until someone creates a hood that blocks them from doing so. In &#8220;The Commuter&#8221; a train station attendant is visited by a woman who wants to go to Macon Heights &#8212; a stop that doesn&#8217;t exist. In &#8220;Real Life&#8221; a man dreams he&#8217;s a female police officer in the future &#8212; or is a woman dreaming that she&#8217;s a man who&#8217;s lost his wife?<\/p>\n<p>This is an anthology show &#8212; each episode is based on a short story by Philip K. Dick. This season consists of 10 episodes.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about what&#8217;s real and what&#8217;s not &#8212; virtual reality, androids, impossible people, and impossible places. It&#8217;s about temptation &#8212; people who succumb and people who resist.<\/p>\n<p>The production values are terrific &#8212; each episode creates a distinct world. Many of these futures are scary.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Commuter&#8221; and &#8220;Autofac&#8221; are the best episodes, and most of the rest are great. A couple have odd endings.<\/p>\n<p>There are some big-name stars including Steve Buscemi, Anna Paquin, Timothy Spall, and Vera Farmiga.<\/p>\n<p>Developed by Ronald D. Moore (<strong>Battlestar Galactica<\/strong>) and Michael Dinner (director on <strong>The Wonder Years<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Dick wrote lots of stories, so they could easily do a 2nd season. He also wrote the stories that became <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2016\/02\/the-adjustment-bureau\/\"><strong>The Adjustment Bureau<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/minority-report\/\"><strong>Minority Report<\/strong><\/a>, and <strong>Blade Runner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{4.5\/5} &#8220;Like&#8230; a coherent dream.
