And while they are attracted to him, they will, perchance, ignore us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Foundation&#8217;s Edge<\/strong> by Isaac Asimov, published in 1982<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s been 500 years of the Seldon Plan and the people of the Foundation are doing well. But one councillor on Terminus has reasoned that the Second Foundation still exists &#8212; and dares to say that out loud. The mayor sends him off planet along with a professor who&#8217;s looking for Earth.<\/p>\n<p>This is the 4th book in the <strong>Foundation<\/strong> series, the sequel to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2018\/03\/second-foundation\/\"><strong>Second Foundation<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Even though it was 30 years later it&#8217;s almost as if Asimov starting typing this one the day after he finished <strong>Second Foundation<\/strong> &#8212; almost, with the exception that he talks more about computers now.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about secret organizations, secrets from the past, and &#8212; as always in <strong>Foundation<\/strong> stories &#8212; the long game.<\/p>\n<p>At the climax representatives of huge forces gather together &#8212; and they talk. Asimov is a master at interesting and exciting dialogue.<\/p>\n<p>I liked it a lot.
