While Eto Demerzel &#8212; whose real name is R. Daneel Olivaw &#8212; is First Minister, Seldon feels he can safely do his work. But a demagogue named Joranum is getting a lot of support and endangers Demerzel&#8217;s position. Seldon puts his best man on the job, his adopted son Raych.<\/p>\n<p>This is the 7th book in the <strong>Foundation<\/strong> series, following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2018\/03\/prelude-to-foundation\/\"><strong>Prelude to Foundation<\/strong><\/a>. It&#8217;s another prequel, taking place 8 years after <strong>Prelude<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This is the last novel Asimov wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The events in this story might not be quite as iconic as in others of the series, but it&#8217;s a great book. Seldon is a terrific protagonist.<\/p>\n<p>One more quotation, from the back cover: &#8220;For it is only now that I am able to give my readers Hari Seldon during the most crucial, creative years of his life&#8230; You see, over time, Hari Seldon has evolved into my <strong>alter ego<\/strong>&#8230; in my earlier books Hari Seldon was the stuff of legend &#8212; with <strong>Forward the Foundation<\/strong> I have made him real.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is the 2nd time I&#8217;ve read it.
