How long until someone asked her a question that would get Pepper and Blue in trouble?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Closed and Common Orbit<\/strong> by Becky Chambers, published in 2016<\/p>\n<p>The new AI on the Wayfarer was given the choice of living in a body rather than the ship &#8212; she took that choice. Calling herself Sidra, she looks like a human. She lives with Pepper and Blue on Port Coriol. She&#8217;s used to being linked all the time and she&#8217;s not sure how she&#8217;s going to survive without it.<\/p>\n<p>This is the sequel to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2018\/09\/the-long-way-to-a-small-angry-planet\/\"><strong>The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet<\/strong><\/a> but it doesn&#8217;t follow the crew of the Wayfarer. The situation is different, but the book has the same terrific sense of humour.<\/p>\n<p>We get Pepper&#8217;s backstory, when she was known as Jane 23. Both storylines are gripping.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about finding your purpose in life. The importance of friendship to the story reminds me of Julie E.
