There’s another cast change, so if you don’t want to know ahead of time who’s out and who’s in — don’t watch the opening credits when you’re watching the first episode.

This is the final season. The first half of the season was a bit disappointing — it seemed like the writers lost steam. But the second half had the quality I had come to expect from the past few seasons.

The show definitely has more of a focus on story than character, but we do see some progression in the main characters’ lives now and then.

The finale was exciting, although a couple of the main characters were underused.

Michael Shanks (the TV show Saving Hope) as Dr. Daniel Jackson and Paul McGillion (See Grace Fly) as Dr. Carson Beckett were both welcome guest stars this season.

The producers intended to film a TV movie after the series (more than one if the first was successful) but that didn’t happen.

Once Atlantis was done the next Stargate show started — I’ll be checking out Stargate Universe next.

I previously reviewed season 4.

{4/5} “I’m not wandering aimlessly, I’m exploring.
