Captain Pike comes aboard the Discovery to take over as captain in order to investigate an unidentified signal. They eventually find a planet where some humans were transported during World War III, 200 years ago. Meanwhile, Ash Tyler is recruited by Section 31 &#8212; which Philippa Georgiou has already joined.<\/p>\n<p>It was thrilling to see the crew of the Discovery work more as a team this season.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re still giving us new technology that&#8217;s better than the 24th century technology we&#8217;ve seen before. But I&#8217;m choosing to ignore that because of the quality of the story.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If Memory Serves&#8221; is a highlight, in which Burnham and Spock have their first conversation in years &#8212; and return to Talos IV. They also kick things up a notch in the last 2 episodes of the season &#8212; in which we once again see the bridge of the Enterprise, among other things.<\/p>\n<p>One more quotation: &#8220;If we&#8217;re both still alive after all this is over, then you can talk to me about my gaping character flaws.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The season ends in a way that no <strong>Star Trek<\/strong> season has ended before. Some more things that you thought didn&#8217;t make sense about the original premise now make sense &#8212; although not completely. There&#8217;s a huge question mark open for next season.<\/p>\n<p>Stars Mary Wiseman, Anthony Rapp, and Anson Mount.<\/p>\n<p>Guest stars include Tig Notaro as Jet Reno, <span class=\"ILfuVd\">Mia Kirshner<\/span> as Amanda Grayson, and <span class=\"st\">Rebecca Romijn <\/span>as Number One.
