There might be others I&#8217;ve forgotten about &#8212; these are mostly ones that showed up on someone&#8217;s list of best SF or fantasy books.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Manifold: Time<\/strong> by Stephen Baxter\n<ul>\n<li>It might be a good book, but it was too science-y for me.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dhalgren<\/strong> by Samuel R. Delany\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s a long book, and I wasn&#8217;t going to read it all if it didn&#8217;t seem to have anything to offer me.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dayworld<\/strong> by Philip Jos\u00e9 Farmer\n<ul>\n<li>After reading <strong>To Your Scattered Bodies Go<\/strong> and some of this one, I decided Farmer wasn&#8217;t the author for me.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>American Gods<\/strong> by Neil Gaiman\n<ul>\n<li>Despite my enjoyment of some of Gaiman&#8217;s other works, and despite other people&#8217;s love of this book, I didn&#8217;t find it interesting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wizard&#8217;s First Rule<\/strong> by Terry Goodkind\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s poorly written, and the story and characters are mostly reminiscent of other books you&#8217;ve read before.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2012\/08\/battlefield-earth\/\"><strong>Battlefield Earth<\/strong><\/a> by L. Ron Hubbard\n<ul>\n<li>This isn&#8217;t a bad book. But if I&#8217;m going to read a book that&#8217;s 1000 pages long it has to be brilliant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2012\/03\/redwall\/\"><strong>Redwall<\/strong><\/a> by Brian Jacques\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s just for kids. Adults will find the events inconsistent and unbelievable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ella Enchanted<\/strong> by Gail Carson Levine\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s just for kids. Adults will throw it across the room before they finish it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Resurrection Man<\/strong> by Sean Stewart\n<ul>\n<li>Similar to my reaction to <strong>American Gods<\/strong>, I just didn&#8217;t find this story very interesting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hunter&#8217;s Oath <\/strong>by Michelle West\n<ul>\n<li>It&#8217;s not a bad book but it didn&#8217;t do it for me.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Once and Future King<\/strong> by T. H. White\n<ul>\n<li>It didn&#8217;t grab me. I&#8217;ve decided that my version of the story of King Arthur is <strong>The Mists of Avalon<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Star Wars: Heir to the Empire<\/strong> by Timothy Zahn\n<ul>\n<li>Although I&#8217;m interested in the <strong>Star Wars<\/strong> universe, and other people like it a lot, it didn&#8217;t grab me.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here are some books I started reading but didn&#8217;t finish.
