The episode I’m reviewing is “Animal House.” It’s the official premiere, although there were two episodes that aired as a sneak preview in August.

This episode is funny and charming, with a clever solution to the problem. I am likely to watch further episodes, because I like this world of Vikings and dragons a lot.

The animation isn’t as detailed as in the movie, but that’s probably inevitable. Of course, some of John Powell’s amazing music from the movie is used as the theme.

A few of the voice actors from the movie are reprising their roles, including Jay Baruchel as Hiccup and America Ferrera as Astrid. Tim Conway (the TV show The Carol Burnett Show), Mark Hamill (Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope), Thomas F. Wilson (Back to the Future), and Stephen Root (Office Space) voice new characters in upcoming episodes.

The show was created by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois (co-directors of Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon).

Two seasons of 20 episodes each have already been ordered.

{4.5/5} “An egg’s an egg, right ladies?… Until it explodes.” The Vikings and dragons are getting along fine, but even though dragons just eat fish the farm animals are spooked by the scary-looking fire-breathing dragons.
