The Da Vinci Code<\/strong>, released in 2006<\/p>\n

Robert Langdon is a symbologist giving a lecture in Paris. He’s called to the Louvre where a murder has taken place. The man who was murdered left a cryptic message in his own blood — including Langdon’s name. Langdon and Sophie Neveu, a police officer who happens to be the murdered man’s granddaughter, must evade misinformed police and dangerous fanatics as they decipher clues regarding a secret that if revealed might devastate the church.<\/p>\n

The first time I saw this movie it reminded me of the book. This time it reminded me how much better the book is.<\/p>\n

It’s not a bad movie, but it’s not thrilling in the same way that the book is. The ultimate surprise is difficult to believe if you just watch the movie, whereas in the book it’s explained in such a way that you’ll wonder if it’s actually true in real life.<\/p>\n

As with Inferno<\/strong><\/a>, it’s missing a little something. Even though it’s a long movie, perhaps it needed to be longer to incorporate more details from the book.<\/p>\n

The parts where they’re running around being chased are easy to show on the screen. The parts where they’re solving puzzles and learning about a secret history are a bit trickier.<\/p>\n

Stars Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, and Ian McKellen. Directed by Ron Howard (Solo: A Star Wars Story<\/strong><\/a>). The music by Hans Zimmer has a particularly memorable part near the end of the movie.<\/p>\n
