{"id":15064,"date":"2019-10-05T22:50:51","date_gmt":"2019-10-06T02:50:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/?p=15064"},"modified":"2019-10-05T22:50:51","modified_gmt":"2019-10-06T02:50:51","slug":"kw-symphonys-the-firebird","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2019\/10\/kw-symphonys-the-firebird\/","title":{"rendered":"KW Symphony&#8217;s &#8220;The Firebird&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I attended the KW Symphony&#8217;s concert titled &#8220;The Firebird.&#8221; It was the 1st concert in their 2019-20 season, so they started with &#8220;O Canada.&#8221; Here&#8217;s the program:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kikimora, op. 63 &#8212; Anatoi Liadov<\/li>\n<li>Sinfonia concertante for violoncello &amp; Orchestra, op. 125 &#8212; Serge Prokofiev<\/li>\n<li>The Enchanted Lake, op. 62 &#8212; Anatoi Liadov<\/li>\n<li>Suite (1919 version) from <strong>The Firebird<\/strong> &#8212; Igor Stravinsky<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Andrei Ionita played the cello for the Prokofiev, and was so astounding the audience gave him a standing ovation. He played an encore.<\/p>\n<p>The Stravinsky was also astounding, and the audience gave the symphony a standing ovation.
