A stranger arrives who speaks only hjjk &#8212; he was kidnapped as a child and raised by the hjjks. He brings from the Queen an offer of a treaty &#8212; which will give the People the land they now possess, and allow hjjk missionaries to live in the People&#8217;s cities.<\/p>\n<p>This is the sequel to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2019\/11\/at-winters-end\/\"><strong>At Winter&#8217;s End<\/strong><\/a>, and it takes place a few decades later.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about old civilizations and new civilizations. It&#8217;s about dealing with people and creatures different from you. It&#8217;s about people who will do anything to avoid war, and people who will find any excuse to go to war.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a great novel, and the story is brought to a satisfying conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve read 3 books by Silverberg.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{4.5\/5} &#8220;She was desperately eager to relive with this stranger her time in the Nest.
