When Ambassador Spock is spotted on Romulus, Captain Picard receives orders to find out what he’s doing there. When the Enterprise runs into a quantum filament, the ship loses power and Picard is stuck in a turbolift with 3 children. When the Enterprise comes across a crashed Borg scout ship they rescue a survivor, who is eventually named Hugh.

The episode “Disaster” provides my favourite song title: “The Laughing Vulcan and His Dog.”

I had forgotten some nice details, like Rasmussen hitting on Beverly, and Data listening to 4 pieces of music at once. Jean-Luc and Beverly sharing breakfast is always nice.

One more quotation: “If you are going to use this person to destroy his race, you should at least look him in the eye once before you do it.” — Guinan

And one more quotation: “As I experience certain sensory input patterns, my mental pathways become accustomed to them. The inputs eventually are anticipated and even missed when absent.” — Deanna, quoting Data

In “Darmok” Picard is whisked down to a planet with an alien captain who speaks in metaphor in an effort to foster communication. In “Cause and Effect” the Enterprise is caught in a temporal loop and keeps exploding — but then people start remembering things from the previous iteration. In “I, Borg” Doctor Crusher saves the life of a Borg, Third of Five, whose ship had crashed. In “The Inner Light” Picard’s body is struck by a probe, and his mind lives out a life of a married man on an alien planet. In “Time’s Arrow, Part I” an object is discovered on Earth that’s 500 years old — it’s Data’s head.

Jay Chattaway outdoes himself with his music in “The Inner Light.”

Guest stars include Paul Winfield, Matt Frewer, and Kelsey Grammer.
