Onward<\/strong>, released in 2020<\/p>\n

Ian is turning 16 and wanted to invite some friends over for a party but doesn’t quite do it. He also doesn’t quite get onto the freeway during his driving lesson. His mom gives him and his brother Barley a present from their dad, who passed away many years ago — it turns out to be a wizard’s staff. Ian uses it to bring their dad back from the dead for one day — except it’s just his bottom half. In a world that has forgotten magic, they have one day to find a phoenix gem to power the staff.<\/p>\n

This is Pixar’s latest animated movie. It’s enjoyable, but it’s not one of their masterpieces.<\/p>\n

The ending was great, but the middle didn’t quite captivate me as much as I wanted it to. The “quest” was a bit too random for my taste — they could have easily been wrong about the trail they were following.<\/p>\n

It’s funny, and has a nice message.<\/p>\n

Stars the voices of Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Directed by Dan Scanlon (Monsters University<\/strong><\/a>). The music is by Mychael Danna and Jeff Danna.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
