A Betazoid scientist named Lam Faal is aboard to conduct an experiment in the hopes of creating a tunnel through the barrier. Q shows up, along with his wife and son, and warns Picard not to break the barrier. Then the captain disappears and the Calamarain show up &#8212; they&#8217;ve shown themselves to be not fond of Q in the past.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the regular crew, Barclay joins the action.<\/p>\n<p>After previously taking Picard on a trip to Picard&#8217;s past, Q takes him on a trip to his own past here.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re a fan of Q, this is the story for you. It&#8217;s the first book in a trilogy.<\/p>\n<p>This is the 10th book I&#8217;ve read by Cox.
