His friend Al, who owns a diner, shows him something astonishing &#8212; a portal to 1960. Al, who now has cancer, wants Jake to take over his mission &#8212; go back and stop JFK&#8217;s assassination. Jake makes the trip, taking most of Al&#8217;s advice &#8212; except he gets a flashy car. And he finds himself a girlfriend.<\/p>\n<p>This is an 8-part miniseries. It&#8217;s based on a book by Stephen King (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2012\/07\/stand-by-me\/\"><strong>Stand By Me<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>If watching <strong>The Queen&#8217;s Gambit<\/strong> makes you want to spend more time in the 1960s, this is the show for you. This story will grab you right away. It has some disturbing moments.<\/p>\n<p>I like how when Jake has to come up with a story he reaches into his memory for &#8220;M*A*S*H&#8221; and &#8220;The Godfather.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>You will want to find out if he succeeds in his mission.<\/p>\n<p>Stars James Franco, Sarah Gadon, George MacKay, and Chris Cooper.<\/p>\n<p>The mysterious main theme is by J.J. Abrams and the mysterious episode music is by Alex Heffes.
