On the day he gets a gig with one of his idols, he falls down a manhole. He finds himself on the path to the great beyond, but he manages to jump off. Now in the land where souls get their characteristics before they&#8217;re born, he hatches a plan to return to his body on Earth.<\/p>\n<p>This Pixar movie has gorgeous animation, of course. The land of souls is imaginative, and the story is delightful.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about zest for life. It&#8217;s about what happens when it&#8217;s your first day in a new body.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not a huge fan of Picasso, but the Picasso-like nature of the soul counsellors worked very well.<\/p>\n<p>Stars the voices of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, and Richard Ayoade. Directed by Pete Docter (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2019\/09\/inside-out-2\/\"><strong>Inside Out<\/strong><\/a>) and Kemp Powers (writer on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidmswitzer.com\/blog\/2018\/02\/star-trek-discovery-season-1\/\"><strong>Star Trek: Discovery<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The glorious jazz music is by Jon Batiste.
