Waterworld<\/strong>, released in 1995<\/p>\n The mariner survives on a world covered in water with no land by finding things at the bottom of the ocean and trading them. When he brings a jar of dirt to an atoll, he briefly becomes the richest man around. There’s not much to buy at the only store, though — he buys a tomato plant, and he buys the shelves. Then they find out he’s a mutant, and decide to kill him — that’s when the Smokers show up.<\/p>\n This movie has lots of great parts. It starts off superbly — with us seeing how the mariner lives on his boat filled with gadgets to help him do things efficiently.<\/p>\n I like when the mariner is trading some dirt the guy tastes it and says “pure dirt.”<\/p>\n It’s a great looking movie — they spared no expense. The atoll set was completely built full size.<\/p>\n The not-so-great parts of the movie mostly have to do with the map on Enola’s back — like why did her parents put it there, and who did they expect to read it.<\/p>\n Stars Kevin Costner, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tina Majorino, and Dennis Hopper. Directed by Kevin Reynolds (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves<\/strong>).
