Pushing Ice<\/strong> by Alastair Reynolds, published in 2005<\/p>\n The Rockhopper’s people are getting ready to push a comet towards Earth when they get startling news. Janus, one of Saturn’s moons, has started moving out of its orbit. It turns out it’s not a moon at all, but a ship. The Rockhopper is the only ship that could catch it, so they’ve been asked to meet Janus, observe for 5 days, and return to Mars.<\/p>\n Reynolds’ story grabs you right away and pulls you into his meticulously designed future.<\/p>\n It’s about people who deal with technical challenges in dangerous situations, people who boldly send messages to the future, and people who sort of like each other and sort of hate each other.<\/p>\n It has a gripping story, characters you’ll follow to the end of the universe, and big ideas you won’t want to miss.<\/p>\n I’ve read 4 novels by Reynolds. I previously reviewed the one he wrote with Stephen Baxter, The Medusa Chronicles<\/strong><\/a>.
