But no matter what the future holds, no matter how far we travel, a part of us — a very important part — will always remain here, on Deep Space Nine.”

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine season 7, aired in 1998-99

Colonel Kira is in charge of Deep Space Nine, and she and Odo are a couple. She’s forced to accept a small delegation of Romulans on the station, temporarily. Kira is surprised to find Senator Cretak easy to work with. Captain Sisko remains on Earth, where’s he’s been for 3 months, working at his father’s restaurant. Then he has a vision, and he discovers that the woman in it is actually his mother. The newly joined Ezri Dax shows up to say hi.

This is the last season.

Jadzia is a terrific character, but given the fact that Jadzia is gone I’m glad we got to meet Ezri.

There are astonishing storylines — Gul Dukat and Kai Winn working together, Worf challenging Gowron, Kira helping the Cardassian resistance, Rom becoming Grand Nagus, Bashir and O’Brien risking everything to cure Odo.

The most interesting character is Garak.

In “The Siege of AR-558” Sisko and his team help a group of soldiers defend a Dominion communications array from Jem’Hadar who want it back. In “It’s Only a Paper Moon” Nog retreats to the holosuite after losing a leg in battle. In “Chrysalis” Bashir cures genetically enhanced Sarina Douglas of her catatonic state. In “Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang” the team helps their friend Vic Fontaine when his lounge is taken over by a nefarious character.

As for the finale — they should have ended the war sooner than the last episode, as this makes it seem like the show is about the war. Other than that quibble, it’s magnificent.

Barry Jenner plays Admiral Ross. Guest stars include Bill Mumy and Raymond Cruz.

Stars Nicole de Boer.

This is the 2nd time I’ve watched it.

I previously reviewed season 6.

This is the end of my multi-year Star Trek rewatch, in which I rewatched all the 1st and 2nd generation shows.

{5/5} “This may be the last time we’re all together.
