It was the face that every fortune hunter had but kept hidden, and it did his heart good to see Jake wearing it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Star Trek: Deep Space Nine &#8212; Rising Son<\/strong> by S. D. Perry, published in 2003<\/p>\n<p>When Jake Sisko when looking for his father in the wormhole, he experienced serious problems with his ship, and he was thrown far away. A ship called the Even Odds rescued him on the Gamma Quadrant side. They are freelance retrievers, wanted by the Dominion. The captain says he&#8217;ll take him towards the wormhole, but along the way they have a job to do.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about interacting with people who are generally good people but have slightly different morals than you. There&#8217;s a hint of <strong>A Fire Upon the Deep<\/strong> to the story.<\/p>\n<p>Jake runs into a Tosk, as well as Kai Opaka.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a unique book as it follows Jake and none of the characters who are back on the station. But it&#8217;s well worth reading.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve read 3 books by Perry.
