Perry, published in 2003<\/p>\n When Jake Sisko when looking for his father in the wormhole, he experienced serious problems with his ship, and he was thrown far away. A ship called the Even Odds rescued him on the Gamma Quadrant side. They are freelance retrievers, wanted by the Dominion. The captain says he’ll take him towards the wormhole, but along the way they have a job to do.<\/p>\n It’s about interacting with people who are generally good people but have slightly different morals than you. There’s a hint of A Fire Upon the Deep<\/strong> to the story.<\/p>\n Jake runs into a Tosk, as well as Kai Opaka.<\/p>\n It’s a unique book as it follows Jake and none of the characters who are back on the station. But it’s well worth reading.<\/p>\n
