Troy doesn’t know what he wants to do with his life — he only knows he doesn’t want to be in law school any more. He finds himself accepting a job as Buck Howard’s road manager. Buck is a mentalist who travels a lot doing shows in smaller venues — he used to be more famous and was even on The Tonight Show<\/strong> with Johnny Carson 61 times. Although Buck is difficult to work with at times, Troy is enjoying working with him — and he has no idea how Buck does what he does.<\/p>\n The Great Buck Howard<\/strong> was released in 2008.<\/p>\n This is a funny movie showing the ups and downs of a performer late in his career —\u00a0John Malkovich (In the Line of Fire<\/strong><\/a>) is perfect as Buck. It also shows a person early in his career, who’s undecided about where that career will go from here\u00a0— I hadn’t seen Colin Hanks (Orange County<\/strong>) before but he does a fine job as Troy.<\/p>\n The fun music is by Blake Neely (the TV show The Mentalist<\/strong>).<\/p>\n Ricky Jay (The Brothers Bloom<\/strong><\/a>) plays Buck’s agent and Emily Blunt (Looper<\/strong><\/a>) plays a publicist.\u00a0Tom Hanks (Larry Crowne<\/strong><\/a>) has a small role as Troy’s father — he’s Colin’s father in real life too. And Adam Scott (the TV show Parks and Recreation<\/strong><\/a>) has a small role has Buck’s former road manager.<\/p>\n The movie was directed by Sean McGinly (Two Days<\/strong>).
