The Marvels,<\/strong> released in 2023<\/p>\n

When Carol Danvers is investigating a malfunctioning jump point for Nick Fury she, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan all switch places. And they keep switching places when they use their powers. Carol goes to Tarnax, a Skrull refugee colony, because the Kree are up to something nefarious. She goes alone, against Fury’s orders. The new Kree leader is willing to relocate the Skrulls but she’s going to strip the atmosphere of Tarnax.<\/p>\n

This is a sequel to Captain Marvel<\/strong><\/a>, among other things.<\/p>\n

It’s about what happens when you’re used to working alone but you’re thrust together with others, one of whom worships you and the other is annoyed that you never visited.<\/p>\n

The story can be a bit confusing at the beginning, but once it gets going it’s all right. There are some amusing moments, and one or two silly ones.<\/p>\n

The relationship between Carol, Mopnica, and Kamala is a nice part.<\/p>\n

Overall it’s delightful, and ends with a hint of what’s to come. The cameos are astonishing, one perhaps slightly more than the other.*<\/p>\n

One more quotation: “You can stand tall without standing alone.”<\/p>\n

Stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellan, Samuel L. Jackson, and Tessa Thompson. Directed by Nia DaCosta (Little Woods<\/strong>). The music by Laura Karpman has standout moments, like when they arrive at Aladna.<\/p>\n
