After that happened, the Town Meeting forbade any more resistance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Wall Around Eden<\/strong> by Joan Slonczewski, published in 1989<\/p>\n<p>Doomsday was 20 years ago. The angelbees, or their masters, have taken over Earth and Isabel&#8217;s town of Gwynwood has a wall around it. She knows something about the outside world from the newspaper from Sydney that arrives every month. But that&#8217;s not enough, and she&#8217;s building a radio from instructions in a book Teacher Becca gave her. She and her friend Peace Hope are also going to go to the Pylon to try to provoke a reaction.<\/p>\n<p>This novel is about difficult ethical choices. Slonczewski tells a compelling story.<\/p>\n<p>I like how Isabel asks questions about her world.<\/p>\n<p>This is the 2nd time I&#8217;ve read it.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve read all 7 of Slonczewski&#8217;s books.
