My captain wouldn&#8217;t allow that to happen.&#8217; And Trip wouldn&#8217;t allow himself to make the same mistake twice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Star Trek: Enterprise &#8212; Daedalus<\/strong> by Dave Stern, published in 2003<\/p>\n<p>Captain Archer wants to investigate an anomaly but there&#8217;s a prewarp civilization nearby who has ships in an asteroid belt. He&#8217;s hoping Trip and T&#8217;Pol can get the cloaking device working on the Suliban ship. Meanwhile, one of Trip&#8217;s engineers has discovered that the Suliban ship uses an ion drive. Trip was part of an ion drive project called Daedalus 14 years ago that ended in failure.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about helping and getting to know people who happen to be at war.<\/p>\n<p>Fans of Trip will be particularly interested in this one.<\/p>\n<p>The story doesn&#8217;t conclude but continues into the sequel.<\/p>\n<p>This is the 2nd book I&#8217;ve read by Stern.
