She&#8217;s in love with her friend Sue, but of course can&#8217;t marry her. Instead, Sue is marrying her brother Austin &#8212; and they&#8217;re staying nearby. Her sister Lavinia is like their mother, trying to be a good woman with cooking and cleaning. Emily visits Death on a regular basis. She writes poems and gets one published even though it angers her father.<\/p>\n<p>This is an odd show. But it has Hailee Steinfeld, and it is very funny.<\/p>\n<p>It answers the question: What if Emily expressed the thoughts that she was unable to express, as a woman in the 19th century?<\/p>\n<p>All historical characters must be taken with a grain of salt.
