Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope<\/strong>, released in 1977<\/p>\n R2-D2 and C3-PO are on Tatooine, having been sold by Jawas to Luke Skywalker and his uncle. R2-D2 plays Princess Leia’s message and Luke is intrigued. When they make their way to Ben Kenobi he tells them that he is the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” in the message. Ben says they must go to Alderaan, and they find a pilot at the Mos Eisley cantina who will take them there — Han Solo.<\/p>\n It doesn’t wow me as much as it did the first time, but there’s still lots to like.<\/p>\n The Jawas’ speech is delightful, the banter between R2-D2 and C3-PO is fun, and the shapes of the TIE fighters and X-wing fighters are memorable. The mystery about Luke’s father is set up nicely with the dialogue between Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru.<\/p>\n The special effects are impressive — like the small Jawas and their huge machine.<\/p>\n Lucas was so sure the movie was going to fail he went on vacation instead of going to the premiere — and on that vacation he and Steven Spielberg came up with the idea for Indiana Jones.<\/p>\n Stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Alec Guinness, and Peter Cushing. Directed by George Lucas (THX 1138<\/strong>). The score by John Williams is one of the best of the best. The track “Cantina Band” will always put a smile on your face.<\/p>\n This is the 3rd or 4th time I’ve seen it.<\/p>\n
